Casate, Ubay
Casate (officially Barangay Casate) is one of the 44 barangays constituting the municipality of Ubay, in the province of Bohol, Philippines.
The barangay's total land area is approximately 460 hectares,[2] with a population of 2,710[3] as of 2007. In the last 2010 National election, it has 1,069[4] registered voters.
Barangay Casate celebrates its annual fiesta every April 5 in honor of their patron saint.
Location
Barangay Casate is situated southwest of the town center, Poblacion. The local vicinity is bounded by barangay Tapon to the north; barangay Bood to the east; barangay Camambugan to the west and barangay Bay-ang and Callanggaman to the south.
Political subdivisions
There are seven puroks or units in the barangay manned by the elected kagawads including the Punong Barangay or Barangay chairman.
History
The name the place came from the Spanish phrase Casate Conmigo which means marry me. Casate is once a sitio of barangay Camambugan before it became an independent barangay.
